Ferreira Cafe - Interior

My Last Meal | Ferreira Café

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of going to one of Montreal’s fine dining landmarks: Ferreira Café. Actually, this was my very first visit to this popular restaurants, to which my mother shockingly said: What? It’s Ferreira Café, how have you not gone there? I know, I was surprised too, but, as they say, better late than never!

Ferreira Café is noted for its yummy Portuguese cuisine, huge wine selection and at-home ambiance – to which I can now proudly concur. Here’s what they had us try:

To Eat:

Ferreira Cafe - Roasted Sardines
Roasted sardine filets with sea salt and vegetable escabeche on olive bread.
Ferreira Cafe - Fresh Cod
Olive oil and paprika marinated fresh cod on a vitelotte potatoes and fresh corn salad.
Ferreira Cafe - Octopus
Grilled octopus, sweet potato purée, fried capers, pickled shallots, confit garlic and rosemary oil. Mmm Fried capers and grilled octopus.
Ferreira Cafe - Roasted Cod
Porcini crusted roasted black cod with port wine sauce and mashed potatoes. Topped with roasted parsnips. This has been on the menu for 12 years and I completely understand why – it’s delicious!
Ferreira Cafe - Cornish Hen
“Churrasco” style Cornish Hen with organic green salad and homemade french-fries. Classic.
Ferreira Cafe - Desserts
A crazy sampling of all their delicious desserts – a sweet tooth’s version of heaven!
